History and Background

The program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and its services are provided by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., a major settlement and community services organization with over 40 locations in Canada and Asia.

Since 1992, CANN has provided services to over 1.1 million newcomers arriving in Canada through the Vancouver International Airport. CANN also began providing services to government-assisted and privately-sponsored refugees in 1997.

Our Goal

The multilingual services lessen the time taken and the stress experienced by newcomers in their initial stages of settlement by providing them with orientation and information, and referring them to other organizations throughout Canada which help newcomers.

The orientation and information provided also help newcomers learn about life in Canada and understand their rights and responsibilities.

Quick linking of newcomers to national settlement and integration resources. Additional assistance is based on the need for government-assisted and privately-sponsored refugees.
